What is family therapy?
Think about how people in the same family can be so different. Family members can share personalities but also have conflicting styles that make it difficult to get along. Couples may become stuck in patterns that cause each partner to feel dissatisfied. Parent-child relationships can become so focused on behavior problems that you can’t enjoy those positive moments in life. Keeping these things in mind, family therapy works on the relationships that matter most to you.
Working together with several people in the family can produce better results than working with one individual. For couples, the focus is on strengthening the relationship, rather than engaging in patterns that cause anger and resentment. Family members and couples work on better understanding each other and changing how they talk to each other.
