Executive function impairment can exacerbate learning problems and play a role in a student's struggles with reading comprehension and writing. For this reason, teachers and parents can benefit from recognizing weaknesses in executive function and its interaction with dyslexia and other learning disorders.

In addition, clear examples are given of various ways in which different executive functions (such as planning, organizing, and working memory) can be targeted through effective strategies.
